Nintendo released 3SD new firmware V3.0.0-6U on 21th Dec ,2011.If you log in e-shop, you will be asked to update to the new firmware (Looks like only available in Europe and USA), it is said that this update is for Swapnote. please refer to the news from nintendo :

Version 3.0.0-6U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:

• System stability improvements and other adjustments
• Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

According to this UK ad, Nintendo intends to keep its promise to release its next major 3DS update — adding 3D video recording, 3DS-to-3DS software transfers, StreetPass improvements, and various eShop features (demos, DLC, etc) — before the end of the month,The company typically releases new firmware on the same day worldwide.

Unlike Super Mario 3D Land, which required an automatic update that blocked flashcarts and implemented minor Friends List functions, Mario Kart 7 will not come packed with the latest firmware (it will probably include the week-old SM3DL update, though).

I’m not sure if its mandatory , but its a firmware non the less, Please Caution: Stay off the Wi-Fi . . . until further notices !!!!

Nintendo to release unique 3D video content courtesy of Red Bull Media House

26th October 2011 – Nintendo today announces a partnership with Red Bull Media House to offer Nintendo 3DS owners a series of unique 3D extreme and street sports video clips which will become available to download via Nintendo Video and view in 3D on your Nintendo 3DS system.

The clips, which will launch over the next few months, include highlights of the Red Bull Rampage mountain biking championships which saw American rider Cameron Zink claim the top spot. Also be sure to check out highlights of the hard fought Red Bull BC One US Final which B-Boy El Niño won, earning the right to represent the USA at the world finals of the Red Bull BC One 2011 in Russia.

Other highlights include the US Surfing Open 2010, extreme dirt bike riding at The Red Bull Dirt Pipe 2010, kayaking at the Red Bull Northern Exposure 2011 and highlights of the world’s hardest downhill skiing course – the Red Bull Streif-Abfahrt – all available to view in 3D on your Nintendo 3DS system over the coming months.

The partnership with Red Bull Media House is one part of a series of collaborations that deliver new 3D content to Nintendo 3DS owners across Europe. Nintendo Video uses SpotPass technology that allows Nintendo 3DS owners to receive content while on the move, enabling you to connect to compatible public hotspots or wireless broadband Internet connections at home, even if your Nintendo 3DS console is in Sleep Mode.

Once connected, your Nintendo 3DS is enabled to automatically receive a host of content such as 3D videos for Nintendo Video, notifications, extra content for your software and system updates without you even lifting a finger.

Don’t forget that Nintendo 3DS is backwards compatible, allowing you to play the extensive Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi back catalogue of more than 1,000 games. Nintendo 3DS also lets parents manage the content their children can access through the Parental Controls feature. Nintendo gives each player control over the 3D effect, as it is simple to adjust the level of the 3D effect (or even turn it off) using the built-in 3D depth slider.

This means there will be five different 3DS colours available next month : Cosmos Black , Aqua Blue colours, Flame Red , Coral Pink and Ice white .

Super Mario 3D Land is the first-ever true 3D Mario platforming adventure, without the need for special glasses Players will experience an exhilarating new sense of depth, distance and speed while running, jumping and stomping on enemies throughout the levels. The game will feature propeller blocks and will have StreetPass functionality.

However, it could simply be Nintendo covering their bases. It’s not unknown for companies to register domain names of nonexistent games simply so others can’t register them. Recently, Activision had an issue with ModernWarfare3.com, which was used as a pro-Battlefield 3 platform to slander the upcoming FPS game. It should also be noted that its other-English counterpart, “grey”, does not appear to be registered by Melbourne IT and comes off as a pay-per-click website.

Recent rumors have still shown that a Pokemon Gray can still be very much alive, and following Nintendo’s tradition of a “trifecta” for each new Pokemon game series (Pokemon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum), it’s definitely not outside the realms of possibility.

Nintendo has an upcoming 3DS internet presentation this Friday. Perhaps it will unveil some clues towards a new main series Pokemon game.
